He set up his own business in1914 in Caroline Street, he supplied spinning's to
the electro-plated hollow ware trade, mostly in copper, brass & nickel silver,
as well as a small amount in sterling silver.
His brother Albert worked for him as a tool maker/setter. His other brother
Arthur worked as a spinner.
Ernest's son Sidney joined the business in 1947 as a trainee after leaving
school, and Ernest retired around 1960.
Sidney then kept the business going.
Due to the recession in 1982 the business collapsed and had to close.

Union, Buck Kiln Lane, Coventry. - According to Benjamin Bird's will, in the
1830's, John was living in London.
From the Coventry Workhouse Registers 8/2, it was found that John Died on the 11th January 1882 at the Workhouse, the Register also states that John was buried at Coventry Cemetery.
